GlidePlan is software that was developed by Matt Herron. It can run on both Mac and PC. It showcases the U.S. Sectional Aeronautical Charts. It is being used in planning cross-country print maps as well as soaring plans that contains glide range rings as well as distance. It is constructed on scanned Sectionals with FAA sources. It has the capability of updating the saved maps by eliminating the outdated version and putting recent versions of landouts. It creates automated curve lines of different glide elevations that can be used to ensure natural planning. It can produce different outputs such as printed versions of maps at sectional scales which also includes automated map legends. GlidePlan consists of turnpoint editor which enables fine tuning of graphics and information which are being shown for every turnpoint that can be seen on the map. It also allows the pilot to visualize the different potential goals and tasks.
