AVG
Anti-Virus Guard (AVG) is a family of anti-virus and Internet security software , developed by AVG Technologies for the Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and FreeBSD computing platforms. Like other antivirus and internet security software, it detects, prevents, or removes malware such as adware, spyware, computer viruses, malicious BHOs, hijackers, trojan horses, keyloggers, backdoors, rootkits, malicious LSPs, dialers, worms, and fraudtools. It provides computer security and protection through the removal of malware threats and by blocking suspicious files originating from social engineering techniques. AVG products are suitable for Microsoft Windows 2000 and onwards, and are available in free and commercial editions. AVG software protection includes the use of Resident Shield, identity protection modules and firewall. The latest version (Version 9) has an improved LinkScanner to reduce phishing threats. Some of the products included in the AVG family are the AVG Internet Security, AVG Identity Protection, AVG Anti-Virus plus Firewall, AVG Anti-spyware and AVG Anti-Rootkit.
